What this checks, and why
  • Readability — VSLs are heard, not read. Target grade 5–7. Anything higher and a distracted viewer stops following.
  • Sentence rhythm — measured as standard deviation of sentence length. Below 4.0 means every sentence is roughly the same length, which is the clearest signal a script was machine-written or over-edited. Fix by breaking some lines to two or three words.
  • Hero casting — the ratio of "you" to "I/we". The prospect is the hero of the story; the seller is the mentor. Below 1.2 means the script is about the seller.
  • Specificity — concrete numbers, dates, and amounts per minute. Vague copy does not sell. "She lost a lot of weight" is worth less than "she lost 11 kilos in 90 days".
  • Calls to action — a long VSL needs three: one built on desire, one on logic after the guarantee, one on the cost of not acting. Each needs a physical instruction ("click the orange button below this video").
  • Retention architecture — VSL revenue is decided by drop-off, not by the close. There should be an open loop or re-hook roughly every 90 seconds. The audit flags the longest stretch with none.
  • Banned language — phrases that read as filler or as AI output and cost credibility on the spot.
  • Compliance risk — claim language that creates legal exposure in health, money, and outcome-promise categories. Flagged, not auto-corrected: the fix is a sharper true claim, never a vaguer one.
